Yep, I said it: lactation. As in MILK coming OUT of the boobs! If the concept makes you uncomfortable, it's okay. Sit down, fan your face, and get over it, weirdo.
These cookies are said to help get the milk flowing because they contain oatmeal, brewer's yeast, and flaxseed meal. The bonus is that they taste pretty amazing. And you can eat them guilt-free because you're doing something good for your baby. Like, it's my job to feed my baby, so wouldn't it be my job to eat these cookies? F-ck yes it's my job to eat these cookies.
Give these a shot if you're trying to increase your breast milk supply. Or make them for a friend who is having a baby and trying to breastfeed. They also won't do any harm to people who aren't lactating. In fact, Rick has been known to eat these by the handful. He's secure in his masculinity like that.
Lactation Cookies for the Breastfeeding Mother
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 T. flaxseed meal
- 4 T. water
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 T. brewer's yeast
- 3 c. rolled oats
- 1 c. chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Soak the flaxseed in the water for a few minutes to soften. Mix together dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar then add eggs, flaxseed, and vanilla. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Drop the dough in mounds on a cookie sheet and bake for 8–12 minutes. Eat like your baby's life depends on it.
You can also freeze the dough balls on a cookie tray and throw them in a baggie to pull out when you need a few. If you do that, let them thaw a bit on the tray before baking.
